Your Medicare Options
When you first sign up for Medicare and during certain times of the year, you can choose how to get your Medicare coverage. There are 2 main ways to get Medicare coverage:

Medicare Original
Original Medicare includes
Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) of Medicare.
If you want Medicare drug coverage (Part D), you’ll need to join a separate plan.
You may also need to purchase supplemental coverage to help with your out-of-pocket costs in Original Medicare (such as 20% co-insurance).
You can use any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare anywhere in the United States.
Part A
Part B
You can add:
Part D
You can also add:
Coverage supplementary
Includes Supplemental Insurance (Medigap). Or, you can use coverage from a former employer, union, or Medicaid.

Medicare Advantage
(also known as Part C)
Medicare Advantage is a Medicare-approved plan from a private company that offers an alternative to Original Medicare for your health and drug coverage. This “set” of plans includes Parts A, B, and usually Part D.
In most cases, you must use doctors who are in the plan’s network.
Plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.
Plans may offer some extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover—like vision, hearing, and dental services.
